The Cluanie Inn is located in the midst of the
Scottish Highlands wilderness.
Here you will experience a sense of
freedom that is hard to equal anywhere in the crowded world today. Whether you
conquer one of the twenty-three "Munros" (mountains exceeding 3,000 feet) or
explore the immensity of the landscape from behind the wheel, you will
experience a sense of wonder at the power of nature.
Right from the
front door of the Cluanie Inn you can try the traverse of the Five Sisters of
Kintail, the Cluanie Ridge or the Glen Shiel Ridge. Further down Glen Shiel,
you can climb the impressive Saddle. From each of the summits and on a clear
day you can see the Cuillin on Skye often appearing close enough to touch. You
can drive to Glenelg from Shiel bridge and from the head of the pass you can
see the sheer scale of the interior, especially the Five Sisters of
Kintail.
And then there's the wild life. From the Inn you may be lucky
enough to see Golden Eagles flying over the peaks. The woodlands of Lochalsh
provide a rich habitat that is exploited by creatures of all sizes from shrews
and voles right up to the largest land mammal left in the UK, the red deer. If
you have patience and are lucky, you may see a Scottish wildcat, pine marten or
otter and there is an abundance of natural life on the West Highlands
coastline. From a boat trip you may see seals, otters, dolphins and even
whales.
These are just a few of the things you can see and do from the
warmth and comfort of your Cluanie Inn base.
